Hi everyone,
I have been looking for awhile for a support group for Fibro. I have no doctor support really at the moment. My GP is getting tired of hearing about my issues and specialists so far are not all that helpful.
I was diagnosed about 3 years ago following a car accident by a rheumatologist in Barrie and have since had to move to London. I was looking forward to getting better medical care here in London as they have more specialist and resources....NOT!
I am told in London to see Dr Harth(supportive of Fibro) it will be a year?
I tried one other rheumatologist and she didn't believe in Fibro and sent me back to my GP. There seems to be a real issue here with health care providers. In the Fibro workshop last night was given stats: somewhere up around 71% of rheumatologists don't believe in Fibro and 50% of GP's don't either, I was shocked.
The top things listed to help Fibro were: Exercise (swimming, Tai Chi etc) and Therapy (CBT). So all these med's the doctors are throwing at people are not particularly helpful as the exercise and therapy.
Anyone here have a good GP that may be accepting new patients?
Cheers
