Everyone has their own way to handle it, and what works for one won't work for another. I advise staying away from heavy duty or narcotic pain medication, as that will not help you at all in the long run.
Here's what seems to be the most important for most people with fibro:
Eat very healthfully
Get daily exercise of some kind
Get enough sleep
Reduce stress in your life as best you possibly can, even if it means changing or even ending relationships
Balance your activities and rest when your body tells you to
Do your best to maintain a positive attitude about it. That's not easy, and I don't mean being a Pollyanna, but just be glad for what you have that is good and don't spend your time worrying about it or hating it or fighting it.
What works for me to deal with the pain:
combination of Advil + a muscle relaxant
Exercise balanced with rest
