Hi,

I haven't been diagnosed with this but I am suffering from a number of the symptoms.

Background

Sorry to be bothering you but my Doctor, Specialist and Physiotherapist are showing no interest in my condition and symptoms.

6 weeks ago I had a rotator cuff repair that included platelet treatment. (The shoulder is healing well).

I couldn't have a nerve block (Previous neck injury) and the post operative pain was very bad (First 24 hours). When the anaethetic wore off I started on the standard treatments over a 24 hour period. Paracetemol, Tramadol, Codeine, Morphine and gabapentin - all of them - it was only the final dose - gabapentin that the pain started to subside.

Within three days of coming home I was only taking paracetemol and 1 tramadol at night. The well publicized sleeping difficulties related to post op shoulder repairs kicked in and I was waking up stifff several times duting the night. I stopped the Tramadol.

In the four weeks that have passed I continue to wake several times a night and the stiffness is getting worse. 6 weeks after the operation in the morning I feel as though I have been steam rollered. I feel worse as time goes on. Everything aches, I can barely sit, stand or lift anything (With my "good" arm). I am still taking 8 paracetomol each day.

Lots of movement, and a hot shower gets me going. It takes about an hour and a half. But if I sit for an hour in the car - I have difficulty getting out. I can get to stage in the day that I feel almost ok, but later in the evening my muscles seem to stop working again and the cycle of stiffness starts again.

Yesterday my physio worked on my neck and back muscles (The sling is causing tightness as you would expect) - very sore tightknots of muscles that she says are the muscles under contraction - "Mixed up and trying to help".

I am sorry to have gone on for a long time - I really just want to know what I am dealing with.

My bottom line question to anyone here is:

Is it possible to have the above symptoms as a traumatic/shock/toxic response to the operation and the mixture of anaesthetics and painkillers that I had in the first few days.

Thank you for any feedback.

Polly
