I have been so sick lately with this bacterial infection throughout my body that it's really exacerbating all of my symptoms from the Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue, as well as my other health issues.

I was finally able to schedule oral surgery for Wednesday, and I can't wait. Normally I wouldn't be looking forward to surgery, but I'm really hopeful that this will decrease some of my ongoing issues. I think I posted elsewhere that a recent x-ray showed that there's a piece of a dental instrument in my gum that apparently broke off at some point in the past, and the area is now infected.

I've had issues on that side for years, and kept going between dentists and specialists (allergist, neurologist, etc.) trying to figure out what the problem was. I don't know how this wasn't discovered until now, but I can't get this thing out of my gum fast enough to suit me, so I'm going to be really glad to get this over with, and hopefully my situation will improve afterwards.

I would say that's unbelievable, but I know how inept some medical "professionals" can be. Too many cases of surgeons leaving behind sponges, tools, gloves in patients, etc, so this doesn't surprise me. In fact, I would request an xray once it's removed just to be sure they don't leave anything
else behind!

I was going to say I hope you can pinpoint the dentist that did this and sue, but I know TX is one of the states with medical tort reform, so trying to find a lawyer to take the case on contingency would be hard.

All else aside, putting in a prayer for you this week. Glad to hear you can get an ailment off your plate!

Good luck with the surgery - I hope it brings you some relief

Wow! I'm so sorry to hear about your problems that sounds unbareable. I hope everything works out for you and the surgery goes fine. Best of luck! And I hope you feel better soon!

@sureimsore Yes, I'm not a fan of tort reform, especially the part where those suing (regardless of legitimacy of claim) are pretty much forced to settle, or if they go to court and lose, they're forced to pay the other side's legal costs. I might try to obtain my dental records, but I have a feeling this could go back a decade or two, and if so, that could involve a different state. I would hate to think my family dentist did this, and I feel that's unlikely, but I've moved around a few times, so have been to several different dentists. I'm not sure how long they keep the records, but it's something I've considered. I'd definitely like to know it wouldn't happen to someone else.

Thanks, y'all. I've been very anxious about this procedure. It's in a few hours now, and I'm a little calmer, with the hope that once it's over, I can start healing and at least get back to where I was when I only had the other conditions, without everything being exacerbated by this. I knew for a long time that something was wrong, and I actually pinpointed it to that area, yet no one has been able to identify the issue over the years. I've felt something building within my body (we are experts on our own bodies, after all, don't ever let anyone tell you differently), and was pooh poohed over the years, and I feel somewhat relieved to have my suspicions confirmed. I'd appreciate a prayer if you pray, or some positive thoughts, if not.

Hope you fare well during the surgery but always remember that you can overcome anything if you deliberately make up your mind to do so. Everyone of us makes mistakes from time to time sometimes due to carelessness, other times due to perfectionism which while it would allow anyone to avoid many errors, has a way of creating them. In standard practice, its good to have a panel of surgeons for a second opinion to minimalise the margin of probable error. Best regards.

Jesus Christ, warriorprincess!!! A piece of a broken instrument? That sounds like malpractice to me, have you thought o suing whoever did that to you? or maybe at this point is no longer possible? God, I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this :( Specially because this was cuased by someone else. I truly hope you get better soon. Best of luck!

Unfortunately I'm sure the statute of limitations has run out on any chance of legal claim. But praying you are recupping OK!

I think @sureimsore is correct, and any applicable statute of limitations has run out by now. I've had issues with that area (tooth, gum, sinus) for ages, and have been getting sicker and sicker over the years. It irritates me that I spent so much money and saw so many doctors, dentists, and specialists over the years trying to resolve the issue, only to end up with a systemic infection that could have killed me, because no one over the years could pinpoint the issue.

The surgery seems to have gone well. I've had an allergic reaction to both antibiotics. My body has been in such a state of high alert lately (prior to the surgery even) that even a cat scratch or certain weeds touching my skin would cause allergic reactions, it's been very overwhelming. That's hopefully behind me now, and I'm praying that I'm on the road to recovery. I don't expect everything to resolve and to suddenly become healthy, but I want to be the healthiest version of me that I can be. Thanks for the posts, thoughts, & prayers. I'm lying low for a bit, just trying to let my body recuperate, so I have the best chance to recover. Hope y'all had a nice Mother's Day (those in the US).

Glad you were able to have the surgery WP and are recouping. Hopefully this will resolve all your issues. Might take your body some time to play catch up. I'm sure some good probiotics wouldn't hurt. Rest easy and keep us up dated.
