Hi, I'm awaiting rheumatology appointment next week (referral from GP re my ongoing chronic fatigue & pain ? Fibromyalgia). So I'm doing a lot of reading, research , prep etc (like many with chronic illness , I have been gaslit by many medical professionals & dread a repeat of this ).

So I have considered CFS & Fibromyalgia as 'options' over the years: I have a v good friend who has CFS & I can relate to the 'crashes' and 'post exercise malaise'. But I don't get the frequent sore throats, fevers she gets. I relate more with the fibromyalgia symptom 'list' but for quite a while dismissed it being fibromyalgia as my initial 'google'search took me to the 'requirement' for pain in in : sections' of the body:

The pain that most debilitating has been in legs, low back & pelvis ; plus increasing migraines and headaches. But it hit me that it could be Fibro when I read that the other symptoms apart from chronic fatigue (big tick ) were waking up unrefreshed & brain fog - yes. Plus that IBS v common in those with Fibro. The pain was also getting worse & I started to get joint pains too.

But as my pain mainly below belly button to shins , could it still be Fibro ? Preparing myself for when Rheumatologist says I don't fit criteria & aren't willing carry out other tests (I do also have osteoarthritis in feet but currently pain minimal, plus osteopenia )

(i have had pelvic ultrasound (fibroids ), seen gynae who says the fibroids wouldnt cause me pain. Also had poop.vhevjed for blood & renal tract CT scan all clear ).

Sorry long post.
Best wishes 🙂

I don't think your situation fits fibro. I would suggest you stop looking up diseases and wait for your appoint with the Rheumatologist

Fair enough. Just trying to prepped for Rheumatology appointment as know how appointments can get derailed & gas lit. Abs GP no other ideas. Doesn't anyway to do with me

Hi, my fibromyalgia at the minute is centred on my upper back where previously it has been an all over the body sort of ache. Pain is horrendous and I also have the fibro fog and ibs. I was diagnosed on one of my regular rheumatoid appointments. The Consultant stopped his conversation told me he thought I had fibromyalgia ran through my symptoms and the biggest one was pain much much worse pain than the rheumatoid arthritis plus the fog and the ibs. So I think it is worth writing down all your symptoms, if you're anything like me your mind will go blank the minute you walk in the door! You are wise to be prepared I have never had the same Consultant twice in six years but my rheumy nurse is an absolute gem and has really been proactive in looking out for me during my treatment. I hope all goes well for you be prepared to advocate for yourself you know how you feel and I hope it's not fibro but something much less painful.
