@Harpy
I have not had melanoma, fingers crossed, but I have had more basal and squamous cell carcinomas then I can count. My worst skin damage due to Sun is on my neck and upper chest, also my face but the damage is not visible on my face.
My first bcc was a tiny pimple on my earlobe that kept bleed and itch, the usual it would heal up and come back . I would forget to mention it a my gp app, when I did he did the biopsy and I was sent to the skin cancer clinic and a week later and they took my ear lobe off, but left with a cute pixi ear
I have had a few bad nodulating bcc one beside my eye, that one hurt, had the full thickness skin graft for that but it had attached to a nerve beside my eye so had a few rounds of radiation to kill it off. So many cut off my face I often joke that once they finally get em all I will end up with a face life

Since I have not had melanoma I only go for routine skin checks every 6 months unless I noticed something unusual that needs to be checked out right away. I am an avid cyclist,
Oh I love cycling, I have done many a big ride . Used to go on a ride that was called “ foreshore to foreshore, was 64 km , loved it , I used to ride up to visit my parents where they used to live, was 73 km, in my late teens when I was at my shyest I would go out riding my bike when it got dark. I miss riding.
hiker and Gardner, so I have invested in UPF 50 long sleeve shirts, especially when I go on long bike ride or to the beach. I also now apply sunblock everyday to my face neck and arms, the areas that are most exposed.
Walking , don’t get me started, I could walk forever. Once I had my kids they loved it, we would drive to a track and kids would be on their bikes and I’d have to keep up.
Yes I have the weird hats that do up so only your eye show. The sun safe shirt and more sunscreen than I care to use.
Since I did bake myself in the Sun as a younger man I'm surprised that I do not have worse skin damage than I do. Not only do I live in Florida and would sunbathe regularly when I was younger, I also have freckles and moles, a skin type that is more susceptible to cancers. I have had Mohs surgery twice.
My parents heritage is Irish and English. My skin cancer dr once told me I need I have Celtic skin

and to got live in the snow, so I was covered from head to toe.
I consider myself an intelligent man and as I said I'm doing everything proactively these days to protect my skin. It's something I'm very aware of every day and part of my routine.
Since yours is so much worse than mine, I don't feel the need to take the B3 supplement that you do, but I am still interested in asking my dermatologist about it out of curiosity.
The B3 will still be of a benefit. Maybe more so , seeing you did sunbake.
Same as you, a couple of my siblings have never had any issues with sun damage while my older brother I believe has. I guess it comes down to which parental genes are passed down to you. I don't know. We always used to joke that my little brother was the son of the milkman because his skin was always so much naturally darker than the rest of us. LOL
I always felt like the bakers daughter , I have black hair and all 5 of my siblings are blonde.
Keep taking good care of that skin of yours. I know from personal experience with a friend how devastating melanoma and treatment for it can be. Truly a very deadly cancer. I'm very happy that yours is cured, I assume, and the you you are also being proactive about it. Keep up the good work!
We all should watch our skins, melanoma can be missed so easily and so aggressive. Nasty stuff.
