...well cannot really call torn ligaments a good time but that is what has taken place in my right thumb from trying to open a jar of spehgetti sauce. I finally went to an orthopedic doc yesterday (yet another specialist to add to my list) and they put me in a fiberglass cast that goes up half my arm between the hand and elbow. It hasn't been 24 hours yet and I already am going crazy with itching and so much wanting to move my wrist.

But the good times are about to happen. After the 4 weeks of cast and then another 4 weeks of physical therapy, and then.......its CRUISE TIME! My sweet adorable hubby has decided he wants to take me on a cruise again to the caribbean! I love cruising, especially on the smaller ships. Its perfect to go to the Caribbean in mid winter when you live in Alaska! Helps make the winter go faster. To me this is the best physical therapy there is!

Anyway....after the cruise I will most likely be having knee surgeries on both knees. I have messed up so many ligaments and tendons with this pls thing that its time to try and get rid of some of the chronic pain by repairing what has been injured. The ortho doc says I need to be more careful now since injury seems to be happening more and more. I want to get both knees done at one time and will work hard to recover completely before our larger cruise we scheduled a year ago, comes up. On that cruise, we will be doing a month long cruise through the Mediterian and all the way across the Atlantic Ocean to Florida. I want to be in the best shape possible so I can walk to all the sites unassited by canes. This cruise is not until Oct. 2011.

So how many here are having to find themselves trying to repair injuries..whether by casting or surgery?

UGHHHHHH... You mean surgery in addition to the other stuff you have to deal with? I looked over at your smiling picture and read your positive words and felt inspired and thankful.. I will pray for you! I hope you have a WONDERFUL time cruising!

I am jealous of your cruises! I hope everything goes well so you can enjoy them to the fullest. I love cruising but that is now a distant memory. We are glad we have the memories of a few.

thanks Jennifer and Joel. Hubby and I want to get in as many adventures while its still possible. We both know it wont be much longer....but hey,,I am going to ride into the wheel chair faze kicking and screeming "whoa what a ride!"
