Thought I had already did post but must have missed the post button- Fibro brain. :)

I am new here and thought the support may be helpful at this point so here it goes. A little background, I was diagnosed in 97 after the birth of my second child. I was in so much general pain I could barely get off the couch, unlike me. Prior and even again after diagnosis I was a 24/7 go person, typical type A personality-wanted to be the best, helped everyone, gave 110%, never said no, until October 2008 when my body shut me down. I awoke at 3:15 to complete blackness and my left side of my body useless. Stroke? Nope. MS? Nope. Lyme? Nope. Lupus? Nope....the list goes on. 12 specialist and doctor's later still Fibro. I am now disabled but my sight loss was only momentary. My left side is still greatly affected but I have good days and bad like everyone else. My memory is my biggest loss, but I have an amazing spouse, 3 awesome children-2 all grown up, 1 at home who is almost 11, 2 great dogs and 2 cats, and I am breathing- Life is good! Look forward to getting to talk to you all. :)

Wow, you have been through a lot. This is a great forum. I like to just get on and read other post. It helps to know I am not alone. I have a great husband and son, but that is the extent of it. My sister brushes it all off, her reply is always take an ibuprofen everybody has aches and pains. Same with co-workers. I am in the medical profession too so you would think at the very least they would get it! So is it basically you just ran your body down until it said "nope, can't do it anymore" ? I keep a diary of my general feelings and events from the day, I often refer back to it. It has been a life saver at times. Glad you found this forum and I hope you get as much out of it as I do. Gentle hugs
Tracy

Thank you for the welcome. :p

Im new to this site but not to Fibro. My life has been turned upside down by this diagnosis. After years of specialist and testing beyond belief I went to a rheumatologist. He said that I had all the touch points for Fibromyalgia but he would not give me the diagnosed because HE didn't believe in it. He said that Fibromyalgia is a "catch all diagnosed" for doctors that can't give an accurate diagnosed. Most people do not understand unless they have this disorder too. Even my family did not understand until they lived with me and saw what was happening to me. Now I have some support but the medical profession treats me like a drug addict because I am being treated for chronic pain with narcotics. My brain dies a little more every day. I had to drop out of college because I could not think anymore, I am now totally disabled. I live with my 4 year old grandson that I adopted when he was 5 months old and my handicapped sister. It is quite a mess around here sometimes but I have an unwavering faith that pulls me thorough a lot of stuff. I get down on myself a lot because I have unreasonable expectations and I always push through even though it makes me sicker in the end. I can't wait until they really find out what Fibromyalgia really is and what causes it...I worked for 30 years only to end up right back where I started from. I believe that I lost my husband because of the d/o too. Most recently I have had problems with my feet and have been unable to walk at times. This is new for me as I normally have problems with my hips and legs. Anyone else with this problem in the feet? If so what did/do you do. My meds don't help much and I have been asking for 3 months for an increase but to no avail. Going to a pain clinic next month. Not sure what to ask/hope for. Sorry that I am rambling but I figured that I would just put it all out there. I miss my mind the most! Anything advise or suggestions are welcome. Hope everyone has a great day! Stay positive and know that you are not alone.:-|

monie,
Hello and welcome to the forum. I want to thank you for sharing about your stroke like experience. When my fibro started way back many years I had something similar happen. I was taking a nap and woke up to find my vision was completely white and then very blurry. My right side was numb and I felt unable to move or speak. I finally got my husbands attention and he called 911. At the hospital they could find nothing wrong and decided it was just nerves and depression. I was fine and in good health one minute and the next I was weak and in pain with no answers. I went through a lot of doctors and rude ones at that before I was told it was fibro. So I can imagine how you feel and felt with what happened to you.

Please continue joining in on answering posts and asking questions. We are glad you found this forum. Good luck to you. See you around the forum. :)
