Hi, I have had Fibromyalgia for three years, possibly longer, however for the last year or so I have very wobbly legs, they almost feel that they will let me down when I am walking, they feel very weak. I wonder if its because through the pandemic I have rarely walked outside and so have done little exervise, but I feel that I cannot walk a straight line, does anyone else have this, I would love to know, thanks.

Any time you have a new symptom you should have it thoroughly checked out by a doctor. It is easy for us to say, Oh, it's just another symptom of fibromyalgia, and it might be but it also could be something else entirely and you need to find out. Don't delay in getting it checked by a doctor.

Hi Pauline,

From what I've gathered, some people definitely experience this kind of thing with fibro, but as Sunkacola said above there are other things that could be causing it too, so it's definitely worth getting checked out! How are you feeling otherwise? Are your pain and fatigue worse as well, or is this kind of happening on its own tangent?

Whilst I can play table tennis, cycle fast for a while, can often do short workouts, carry heavy things for a short time - walking is always challenge... Last summer I was even trying to apply for additional disability for that, suggested by my GP (glad they turned that part down tho), an alternative practitioner suggested my veins, turned out I got quite a bit of CV stuff, but no, nothing could explain it. I still definitely often have to watch out getting off my bike, esp. when next to a road - because of wobbly legs. But since taking GABA which has taken most of my stiffness, I seldom have problems going up stairs and my legs are better when walking. Now it's still my right knee and my elbows that hurt a lot, twisting legs & arms a little while walking helps. When my legs are weak I lie down before or on a bench and put my feet up. If I'm not up to it but my wife needs to let off steam, I take my bike. What's cycling like for you?
I'm pretty sure exercise would help you, as you imply yourself. I'd suggest not just 5-10' of yoga or tai chi/qigong per day, but a small workout, like the "7' scientific workout" (youtube). If it's hard for you to get going, you could start with a minute the first day, 2 minutes the second etc., or just do bits of the workout, or think up a healthy reward for doing more.... For legs chair steps, squats, plank, high knees & lunges wd be the best, and keeping it short first, maybe 10'' or 20'' with a break as long as you need.
If this doesn't work at all for bodily reasons, then that would be something to go to a doc with. I doubt a doc would do anything if you told them this, they'd tell you to do exercises too or not know what to say. That's my experience, come to think of it - however I have very strong legs, that's not the problem. Same with arms by the way: I'd've been able to do 30 pushups in 30'' on many days, but as soon as I tried to do something overhead or with stamina for longer than 3' it started getting difficult. All a bit better now from the amino acids.

Hi,
Legs partially giving way is known to Dr’s as part of .
It happens to me often. One leg goes, as if it’s been dead legged from the back.
I also know a friend who was diagnose FM. She used to run and suddenly one leg would give way.

It's more than possible that your legs have been deconditioned, and you just have to walk more in a safe area until you rebuild those muscles. Walk in place holding onto 2 chair backs. Sit in a chair, tie a can of soup to each leg and do leg lifts. Hold onto a counter or table and do squats. Just go slowly. Remember how easy it is for fibro people to overdo. Just 1 of each lift the first day will tell you tomorrow how you did today.

It is also possible that you have a different problem entirely. Some of us lose our sense of positioning. We feel as if the world is spinning every time we stand up. A tilt table test would diagnose this problem. The three little semi-circular canals in your ears get out of whack. They normally work like a carpenter's level, one running side to side, one front to back, and one up and down, telling your brain where you are. Our bodies themselves also send positioning data to the brain. Surprise! Fibromyalgia can mess up those signals, too.

Work on conditioning for a week or so. If that doesn't seem to be helping--even a little bit--then make an appointment to see your physician. Find out what's wrong so you can fix it.

It was ginger, banana, and mint for nausea. Can make a smoothie with all three - not too thick if feeling sick - or make ginger and/or mint tea if can't handle anything of substance. Need to try to get energy up though, which is so tough with constant nausea. It really is horrid 😕

Thank goodness we're safe! 🧙‍♀️

How are you feeling now, Auriel? Are you still having trouble with nausea too?

Yes Paulinedb I get that too, feeling bit wobbly + off balance, sometimes a bit drunk/hungover too! Tobycats60 I’ve been trying to find a way to explain that weird vibration/ plugged in feeling for a while, but inner tremors sums it up perfectly! explaining fibromyalgia is no easy task in general but new terms help
