I've a serious problem with my feet, but it's hard to notice because I don't walk a lot. I've noticed not only my heels hurt if I stand up for too long, but also the frontal part of the sole. I don't know how normal is this, it happens more often with some shoes than with others. Is someone else suffering from this as well? is this a common thing among fibro patients?

This is one of the reasons I hate to walk around with my new shoes, when I walk it feels like I'm steping with my nude bones (that's the best way I can describe it), feels like walking with my bare bones on solid rock. I try not to stress about it, but it really sucks because I just can't wear the shoes I really like :(

I have a lot of problems with my feet in general. They go numb, they get cold and change colors, they get too hot. Yes, sometimes they hurt like you described, and sometimes I get spasms in them too. Also, and this has been since I was in my 20s, my socks feel weird on my feet. Like the actual stitching will just bother my feet!

I was told the sock thing is a fibro thing, just a general irritation against my skin. I'm not sure about the rest. I do know that I deal with similar issues.

Wow, that sounds quite painful. Have you mentioned it to your health practitioner? I know if I spend many hours walking then I will find it difficult to move the next day. The description of nude bones was a perfect visual for what I usually feel during those times.

Oh, Honey, my feet are my worst places with my fibro! This has been going on for at least a year. It seems like my pain started in my upper body, then moved down into my legs, and now feet. The pain is horrible, and I can hardly walk. I hobble like a little old lady! Mine hurt on the tops, bottoms, ankles, and heels. The only thing that helps me is staying off them (yeah, right!), heated throw, and pain meds. I just suffer with them everyday.

Best of luck to you!

Thanks fibrofal :) It seems like feet pain isn't uncommon at all! Do you have a hard time when buying shoes or not? I just can't wear the shoes I really want because of this dang pain... my little fingers (both feet) are a constant bother as well! I just bought a new pair of shoes, but after walking in them for a bit I realized I'll not be able to wear them :(((((( Damn feet! This isn't the first time!

Best luck to you too :) Dealing with feet pain is so difficult.... well, dealing with any kind of pain is hard enough, but feet are... so important!

Mine go numb as well sometimes, but that's not a big issue for me. By the way... I also get that! I can feel the stitching on my new shoes... my right foot foot only (the zone just above the heel! ouch!). It's so hard to find the right shoes... plus I'm 26 and I still like shoes that actually look good, not like the ones my moms wear that are super comfy, but not pretty at all :(

Not really, but I think I'll see a specialist :) I might pay a visit to an orthopedist, not going for a prescription, but I'm hoping he can take a look at my feet and tell me what's going on exactly. Maybe give me something for my feet, so I can wear most of my shoes without feeling so much pain when I walk in them. I can only hope!

Birkenstocks around the house.. I very rarely go barefooted...

I used to really bad feet pain until my rheumatologist upped my GABA to 600 mg 3 times a day. After my 3rd day of this dosage miraculous I got out of bed anticipating pain like bracing myself for the terrible pain, I did not have that pain anymore. Thank GOD because my feet is my world. Hopefully u will find a remedy that will help you, Good Luck!

When I was growing up, we used to walk for 2 kilometers to attend school, then my heels used to hurt so my parents decided to change the type of shoes I was wearing. That did not solve the problem completely though i felt better.

Today, I still experience pains especially if I walk bare feet around the house for long. I don't take any specific medicine for it though, I put my feet in warm water for a while them massage them.

Are you talking about gabapentin (Neurontin)?

Trellum, I have a terrible time with finding shoes! I've tried so many different pairs, and this is what I've come up with. For around the house, I wear FitFlops. Then I've found the Skechers Go Walks to be very light, cushiony, and very comfy. I have them in all colors. I also add an insert to them that provides even more arch and heel support. For church, I've now gone to flats with the same inserts in them. Believe me, I've tried just about everything.

I "feel your pain!"

Inserts? Where did you get them?! I think that would do for me...! I think I need more arch support, did you have to go to see a specialist to get those inserts? Gosh, I wish I could just wear whatever I want... I feel so frustrated because I'm supposed to look my best right now, but for several reasons (not only my touchy feet) I just can't :( It's so much pressure, we, young women (who are still unmarried) have! Now on top of that add the fact you can't wear the shoes you want. LOL, sorry, I felt like ranting a bit! Thanks for sharing your tips with me :) You rock!

I might try that :) Do you have troubles buying new shoes? I really dread buying new shoes, because I just keep trying pair after pair and very rarely a show will fit me well. So I rarely can wear what I really want :(

Well, at least this happens only when you start walking bare feet around the house, now you know what to avoid ;)

Thank you :) I actually see feet as one of the most important parts of my body! I mean... if you can't walk without feeling a really inmense pain, then what kind of life is that?! I'm glad you found something that worked for you, but... did you ever have a hard time when buying shoes? If you did... do you still have a hard time when buying new shoes?
