I am sorry but I really need to get this out and I know people here will understand.

Since February of this year I found out I have fybromyalgia that comes with the lovely addition of chronic fatigue and ibs. I have always suffered from depression and anxiety and now it is worse. I also found out I have severe diabetes, advanced degenerative disc disease and severe arthritis. Last week I had surgery to remove my right adrenal gland with a almost 6 cm mass on it. My left ovary and Fallopian tube was also removed at the same time as I had an almost 5 cm mass on it. Thankfully all has come back benign. Having the adrenal gland removed with the mass has really helped with the pain on my right side.

That is the good news. Now for the vent.

I have been off work since June. I applied for disability in oct and was denied. I have appealed as I am still unable to return to work yet. I just seen my specialist and she wants me off for an additional 4 months as I need to change my entire life style and need the time to do it without the added addition of work and the stress of it.

With no cash since oct I can't tKe my sleeping pills so I don't sleep, I can't take the victoza that works for my diabetes and I can't take the abilify for he depression due to a suspension in benefit coverage. All of these pills worked great and I was doing awesome but now everything is back to the beginning. I just wanna collapse and give up. Returning to work at this time will not be successful but if I am not approved for ltd I have to return for the benefits. I am in Canada if that helps.

I feel so defeated by the system.

Hi Dawn... I know nothing about Canada's system, so I can't really speak on that. Ours in the US was always messed up and has gotten a *lot* worse and more expensive since people tried to "fix" it. Ugh!

But all that aside, I wanted you to know that even though I don't have any particular advice on how to make the system work for you, I've read your words and want you to know that someone is "listening." I hope that your appeal will be successful and allow you to get some of those medications back that you need!

DawnMS,
I don't know much about the healthcare in Canada, but do you have any free clinics up there that are government run. In the states we have different free to low cost clinics that help supply medication and some healthcare management. There are lots of members on here from Canada, that should be able to help you in regards to what might be available in your area.

Sometimes doctors will help when a patient has severe medical problems like diabeties that is dangerous to let go untreated.

Glad you found us and please feel free to look around the forum, ask questions, and post anywhere you want. :)

I am so sorry you are going through that. I do not know much about Canadian either. Your specialist is absolutely right! You do need to take the next four months off. After everything you have been through, plus a mass on the adrenals and tubes, you could face adrenal burn out or other serious issues. You need some rest, and deserve it!

I would have thought you had pleanty of proof to the need of disability. Were you applying for permanent or temporary? I am going to guess temporary since you talked of going back to work. Just try to take it easy, and give yourself permission to spoil yourself. Try not to worry, watch some movies, if your doctor says it is OK get some fresh air on a walk every now and again. Don't worry about the house, just try to feel better.

We didn't ask for a time frame at the time but now that we know more of what I am dealing with we are pretty positive the timeline is short rather than long.

I have free visits to the doctor in Canada. The medications I was on that worked are not yet approved by our provincial drug plan. That is where the problem comes in. Just hard having no income since oct, my car is broken and it is Christmas and I can't buy presents or food for my family.

Dawn please do not give up hope, things have a way of working out. I hope you can get some help soon. I can't really think of anything specific that might help with your trouble but feel free to vent whenever you need.

Dawn, I feel so sorry to hear you're going tru such a hard time! Have you had any issues since your falopian tube and adrenal gland were removed? I really hope you didn't, my mom went tru a mega shed after they removed her womb and ovaries. I know nothing about the canadian healthcare, but I heard it's way better than in the US, so I'm a bit surprised they haven't accepted your disability application. Because to me is more than obvious you really need it.

By the way, I also suffer from depression, anxiety and IBS. So I can relate, as if having fibro wasn't enough, right? I hope you felt better after venting here :) It always helps me to come here and vent as much as I need :)

Well the ltd is through a private insurer through my work. My works knows I am sick, I have more than enough medical, the union is behind me completely and the disability company has admitted to my being sick. I was supposed to hear about my claim early this week. I still haven't. Thankfully my union is pushing it. They want to see me return to work successfully which means time. I am sliding farther and farther backwards as the stress continues. I felt awesome after the surgery. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Thanks everyone
