Hi everyone l am new to these threads, l have suffered with fybromyalgia for the last 15 years and have now finally been diagnosed. l really wanted to share this with you, l used to suffer with the most excruciating pain it was so bad that l would be sobbing in the mornings with the pain unable to get out of bed, l could not straighten up l used to roll over onto my stomach slide to the floor and then with the help of my daughter gradually get to my feet walking was pure agony and it would be about twenty minutes before l could actually straighten up, on any normal night l would wake up anything up to 20 times during the night with the pain unable to sleep. Now l have controlled the pain by at least 90%. l take one 200 mg celecoxib morning and night as well as one 500 mg valaciclovir tablet morning and night as well, the next thing that l did was change my mattress this made a huge reduction in my pain at least 60/70% l now only have minimal pain in bed and no problems whatsoever getting out of bed in the mornings. I tried every type of mattress and base the last one costing me $6500 Australian dollars, being unable to stand the pain any longer l tried a different approach l bought a mattress with the extra padded pillow top on the top and bottom. I then used this for my base as it would be really soft and also have enough height, all bases have timber in them even the one's covered in fabric that look pretty, not just the timber slated bases, then l purchesed a memory foam mattress also second hand off ebay on top of this l put a 4 inch memory foam mattress topper. It is like sleeping rolled up in a cloud but l can honestly say after purchasing eight other mattresses and bases and not being able get out of bed, straighten up or walk in the mornings it has worked like a miracle. Your partner may not like it but l guarantee you will be absolutely amazed at the difference that it will make to your pain. I still have some pain during the day but it is minimal now compared to what it was and l still suffer a lot of the other things that fybromyalgia sufferers experiance but at least my pain has gone from a 12 to a 3 now. I put it down to our beds just not being soft enough for our bodies as l had every other type of bed in the past even gell and dunlopillow rubber but l really think the combination,of a super soft base and the two memory foam mattresses is what made the difference it is unbelievable, unfortunately if l stay anywhere else l can't sleep on their mattresses but for short stays anywhere else l have a good quality blow up air mattress that l take with me. I really hope that this helps a lot of other people l only know that the difference that it made to my life was unbelievable. Cheers

Thank you for sharing. I have an apt. Thursday with my ruemy, I'm going to research these meds. I've never heard of them but they could just be by a different name in the US. We may be moving in a few months so I'm holding off on changing my bed, but when I get really bad I will go to my son room when he's not home and lay/sleep on his. (I'm not sure how he ended up with our memory foam on the last move)!?
Cheers to good nights sleep!

Do you mind me asking what the 500 mg valaciclovir is for? Isn't it an antiviral med? Glad the mattress is helping.

Hi Barb55, welcome and thanks for sharing. I saw an article a few months ago about a doctor having success treating fibromyalgia patients with antivirals. I'd be really interested that is part of what is working for you.

Glad the new mattress is helping - it makes a huge difference :)

Thanks a lot for sharing. I have been thinking of getting a new mattress as well, because also feel my mattress has a lot to do with my pain, specially my lower back and next pain :( I have been thinking about memory foam, but a friend of min who is a doctor advised me again it. I still want to try it though... because well, maybe it will work for me.

Yes do give it a go but instead of using a normal base just buy a second-hand double sided pillowslip mattress as your base the difference it will make is amazing. Cheers

Yes it is, l did a lot of research on the internet and l found a really good blog on there that was done by a specialised physician and also their was feedback from some of his patients there as well, sorry l cannot remember where l found it. I did try it combined with a couple of other meds and found that it did not work anywhere as good as it did when l took it with the celebrex , l also tried the celebrex with other medication and same thing did not get anywhere even close to the result that l'm getting now so it is just the combination of these two drugs together the celebrex and the antiviral, cheers and goodluck

Yes it is but on doing a lot of research l found out that fybromyalgia attacks the nervous systems like a virus and so combined with the celebrex, anti inflammatory the result was amazing. Hope this helps, cheers

Yes it is, but try it with the celebrex so will be amazed at how well they work together. Cheers

Celebrex is an anti inflammatory and the other is an antiviral they work brilliantly when used together, cheers

When you do get yourself the new mattress don't be talked into using a normal base under it you need to put a double sided mattress under it instead it's not support that your needing it's supreme softness, hope this helps, cheers

This is good news which are rare to and by. You have just shared with up another method of fibro treatment. I have been sharing with our brethren news about a nurse who had fibro but went on to invent the Comfort U pillow for pain relief. It is quite remarkable that your pain level has dropped from 12 to 3. I hope this thread will gain traction with the suffering brethren.
