Hello,
I am looking for advice or ideas.
First of all - family history -
My Grandmother died of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Remember - there was no treatment and she was told to jut lay in bed all of the time. Things are better now. But this is a immune system problem.
My Mother has to take an aspirin every day for pain or she locks up and can't mover. Granted, she's 70 years old. But her friends don't have to do this, so it doesn't seem normal. After experiencing her mother's situation, she won't go to the doctor or mention it. So there is something going on there.
My Dad has colitis, food allergies that are increasing with time, and the leukemia a lot of elderly people get and control with treatments. But he has immune issues too.
So - it wouldn't surprise me to find out that I had an immune system that is going to go haywire at some point.
I am gluten free because I became very ill when I was 27. But I went gluten free as soon as I saw it because my father had already lived through that process and I witnessed it.
Now I'm 43 and I've been GF for 16 years. I'm pretty good at this, so I do not believe I am exposing myself to food allergies.
Last year I all of a sudden having joint pain at this time of year. My feet and ankles hurt so bad I could barely go down the stairs. I'm sure that I was really tired too, but the thing I remember the most is the pain. I went to the DR and they ran tests, but found nothing. I think we mostly checked for RA - since that was my largest concern.
This year it is in my hands and arms. I had an extreme shooting pain in my side and today, it is moving into my feet. It does help when I elevate my feet at night, so I think that I must be swelling up. I am more tired, but I have also stayed up later at night this week, so it could be something to do with my tiredness.
Is this ringing any bells for anyone. I half way want to get tested for something, but I also wonder if I should just try an anti-inflammatory diet. My other SIL is a Dr though, and she said that if something was going on, I could be damaging my joints by inaction.
Confused and Concerned,
Jennifer
