Does anyone know if you get turned down for social security disability by the ALJ can you file again and have any chance of winning? It would seem to me once the judge rules that would be the end of it but I have had people tell me to file again and see if you can win.

Hi Krista,
If after your hearing the ALJ makes his decision and you do not agree with it, you can request a review by the SS Appeals Council, or you start over and reapply.

Please re-read the following brochure that SS probably gave you in your packet:

Social Security Appeals Process
https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10041.pdf

But as I mentioned in a previous post, try not to jump too far ahead of yourself. There is little gained by worrying about something that may or may not happen. Instead, I suggest that you concentrate your energies on the upcoming hearing, reviewing your case file for missing critical documents, and making sure that you and your lawyer have built up the strongest case possible.

Your hearing is right around the corner. Be good to yourself, and hang in there!
