I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 10yrs ago. I have been studying on it more recently since my insurance company labeled it a traumatic brain injury. The more I read into great detail about the endocrine system. I found so many similarities between the two. If you are diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I would strongly suggest that you see an endocrinologist for a 2nd opinion to make sure. Hormonal imbalance produce the same symptoms. Especially the adrenal glands and thyroid. I'm going to see a specialist soon to find out if I have anything wrong with my system. Many doctors use fibromyalgia as a blanket diagnosis for when they can't find the problem or think about what else to look for. Be aware of this!!

I've done quite a bit of reading and you're right, often fibromyalgia is misdiagnosed. Though, I would hazard a guess that far more often it goes undiagnosed.

I'm curious, did labelling it a traumatic brain injury by your insurance company affect your insurance claim?

They labeled it that so I would have a separate insurance program that handles the drugs that are required for it and also they saw in my records from another state that I was in domestic violence relationship and that makes them think I'm suffering from that bc of the extent of medical records showing I had several bad blows to my face

Often times fibromyalgia is a part of other conditions, meaning it can be brought on by trauma. Trauma can be from mental or physical abuse, car accidents, suffering from a incurable disease process or even by pushing yourself beyond your limits of endurance etc... Too much stress in your life can be a factor, as in combat or type of job. Many people suffer with ptsd, as well as, fibromyalgia. The list of reasons goes on and on, but proper management can often lead to more good days then bad, giving those who suffer from it hope that their lives have a chance to get better over time.

I hope that your doctor's are helping you and wish you the best of luck in your treatments.
