I haven't had a single diagnosis for my pain. I'd say it started late 2017 with mild discomfort around my right upper abdomen/rib cage. It eventually developed in sharp, quick pains that seemed to always change location, mostly it stayed on my right side, but on different days it could be on upper, middle or lower abdomen. My right flank (rib cage I suppose) would hurt sometimes when I twisted my torso. I went to the doctors in 2018, they did all the bloodwork, fecal tests, physical tests and abdominal ultrasound of all my organs. All normal! I was prescribed D-vitamin course for a slightly low d-vitamin values. After a ~5 months of pain, it suddenly dissapeared. I had no pain for 10 months straight.

Now in 2019, I've had a solid 6-7 months of pain once again. Last week I had my bloodwork done and once again all normal. Also I had my thoracic spinal area xrayed and it was also normal. The pain that I've experienced lately is way more versatile than before; I now have sharp pains all over my upper body, and sometimes even in the legs and arms. It's like all of my rib cage is hurting, lying in some positions seem impossible due pain. My lower posterior ribs are very sore to the touch. Also points in my upper back, next to the shoulder blade are sore when lightly massaged. Sometimes the pain is experienced on the lower right front ribs, and this pain seems to radiate all over my abdomen. It feels like it's not a 'deep' pain, but rather superficial. And just by changing position, I can often make the pain go away momentarily.

Also my neck hurts often and the pain is no longer only on the right side, left sided upper back pain is also present at times. Other constant symptoms are these intense episodes of fatigue when I feel like I could fall asleep on my feet, but when I try to sleep, I can't. I get constant chills, like I'd be very cold for a moment (no fever during all of this). On some days I get headaches that will last for the whole day. I also get random muscle twitches all over my body and these can occur 20-30 times a day. Often I feel disoriented, foggy and get random dizzy spells.

My doctor says its unlikely to be an internal organ related disease, as all my blood work is fine; no infection, no evidence of gallbladder or liver dysfuntion according to the specific blood tests, ultrasound and xray. He has now reffered me to physical therapy (for which there is months worth of waiting in line).

I'm very anxious these days. I need to know what all of this is. Is it something chronic but not life threatning, or is it something more severe. From you guys I'd like to know if these symtoms relate to any of the Fibromyalgia symptoms you're experiencing? My doc hasn't even mentioned said syndrome. I just keep coming back to that conclusion since my symptoms are so all over the place

It's good your blood-work etc is normal.

"fibromyalgia" is a label used for a wide range of pain-related symptoms that are otherwise mysterious.

It certainly sounds like you have a lot of muscle pain - "myalgia". Stress on muscles spreads if not corrected. Chronic pain makes you tired, anxious etc. so no wonder you are concerned.
I believe there is a fix:

All my symptoms have got better as I learned to use my body better. Using the correct muscles - 5 the main muscles of movement - to balance my body, allowing the sore and stressed areas to heal.

I started working with my Base-Line muscles. pelvic floor Base rectus abdominis Line. Thinking longer and stronger with every in breath.

The body's core pillar of strength.

Then the trapezius muscles for the upper body - a blanket of muscle from midback to the back of the head, shoulder to shoulder. that should be free to spread in all directions supporting the head and arms through a full range of movement.

The gluteus maximus and rectus femoris muscles of each leg, solid muscles to align and connect the legs to Base-Line support.

Focusing on using these muscles to their full extent and regaining my full range of movement was the key to releasing all the pain and recovering my health. It has taken time and effort but the difference in how my body feels is amazing.

Focus on these muscles doing whatever you do, develop the connection between body and mind and feel how to heal yourself.

Wondering if you ever got a diagnosis? I havent posted my story of symptoms yet. I am new here and have had rib pain exactly as you describe, among many other symptoms but have yet to get a diagnosis. Just many tests and doctor to doctor. Wondering if others diagnosed with fibromyalgia have this rib pain.

It sounds like fibromyalgia but you need to have other illnesses ruled out first. The thing about fibromyalgia is that its symptoms are as unique as the individual and underlying problems can become worse because of fibro.

I was diagnosed in January after a full gamut of tests, and years of spinal issues and my problems are much the same as yours only on my left side. I am especially inflamed on my neck, jaw, shoulder, arm, hand and ribs and sometimes when it is particularly bad, it goes all the way down my left side. I have had chronic pain for years due to a spinal injury decades ago - but this diagnoses came after I had spinal surgery and had been pain free for 6 months. The pain came on all of a sudden and hasn't abated. My doctor is a pain and spinal specialist. I didn't believe him at first, but I do now - especially after joining this board and finding others have similar experiences. Unfortunately, there is no easy fix - you have to navigate through this with your doctor and find regimens (perhaps on your own) to help relieve the pain and any depression that might occur. I have just started a simple yoga program and find it is helping me somewhat - but I do also have pain medications and CBD that help me get through the day. The most important thing is to not give up, but keep educating yourself and be open to different therapies - everyone is different and responds to different treatments. This is true of all pain - everyone is unique.

I agree with Fatima that you need to have the doctors rule out other things first, as Fibro is a diagnosis of eliminating all the other diseases that it could be.

Agree with Kat71..me too, i m kind of new to this group and did not post my symptoms yet, neither been diagnosed yet. i have a reumathologist appt on the 11th. But all the symptoms you decribed are what i feel too. feel pain everywhere. did blood test all good. had xrays all good. yesterday i did an abdomen ultrasound and i m waiting the results. it just a mix of hurting everywhere (neck, arms, legs, upper back, jaw, eyes, abdomen, calfs, hands) and feeling tired. anxiety and panic attacks comes from the mix. one time i actually called the ambulance at work cause i thought i was having an heart attack but it turned out my hearth is in remarkable conditions. still the pain to my chest and ribs and legs and arms was a lot and i guess i freaked out.
taking anxiety pills, muscle relaxers, massages, dry needling, chiropractor and even if it is helping a little the day after i wake up like i was ran by a truck. dont sleep good and enough because of it. Plus i ve been just diagnosed with Sleep apnea so it s a week that i m using this cpap machine. can t use it for more than 5 hours.
Today i have my first therapy with i guess i can call a Shrink. never had one but i hope she can help a little with the anxiety part of all of this.
I dont know yet what i may have. the doctor is sending me to the specialist because she thinks it may be FM but i LIKE this group/forums a lot even if it turns out to be something else, i will stay as much tuned as possible looking for suggestions, inspiration or just comforting if all will go to sh.....t! :)

Since the original poster made this post close to a year ago and has not ever replied since on this thread, I think the thread was abandoned by that original person. Maybe start a new one if you have a question.
