Hi,
About a year ago my Rheumatologist said that I most likely have Fibromyalgia, and I'm OK with that, sort of. For as long as I can remember I have had symptoms that fall into the FMS list. I'm a 66y/o male and my memory is affected by something, so forgive my historical references, they are questionable at best. In the past 6 months I developed a chronic dry cough, so I started trying to find a specialist that could help with this dry pesky cough including; Allergist, ENT, lung specialist and back to my Rheumatologist.
Turns out that prendisone really helps my cough, however, I'm a bit frustrated since test show that I produce almost no tears or saliva, my lung show some vague rheumatoid related damage, my Rheumatoid Factor is 326, if I remember correctly it should be somewhere around 14 and my blood tests for Sjogren's syndrome were negative. My Rheumatologist sort of just looks at me sideways and shrugs his shoulders... "I don't know what's going on, let's just keep an eye on it. I'll see you in 3 months". Keep an eye on it?! First off, my eyes are really dry so another metaphor might be a bit better and secondly, I have had 40+ years of not knowing what's going on!
The point about all this rambling, is to say that I have a great deal of sympathy and empathy for all the individuals who meet up with the limitations of modern medicine and the frustration of falling into the category of patients that doctors would rather eat worms than meet with... But my cough is getting better and as a result I'm getting fatter.:?
