I halso have ADHD and now have fibro. Before getting sick that triggered fibro I had control of my brain and ADHD. But now I feel I have no control over my brain or any other symptoms ofnADHD. Does anyone else this concern?

Hi Dopey,

I am also a new member.

I was unofficially diagnosed by a prominent Physiatrist (Rehabilitation Specialist - he can do physical therapy, a pain specialist's job, diagnostics, etc. all in one man with a doctorate) in my area. He read my list of medications grouped by migraines, body pain, nerve pain, muscle pain, depression & anxiety and ADHD. He then pressed all the 18 areas (my mom said I looked like I was going to kill him) as I cringed or yelled out, and then he asked me to sit down. He then told me he was unable to help me because there were too many muscles tightened up and Botox injections would not help because I had Fibromyalgia and so he was going to refer me to a Rheumatologist.

My mother was there because I cannot remember much these days and those symptoms started right around the time the pain started to get bad - about six months after my last car accident. I also have a very hard time paying attention despite my Adderall. I think this is what everyone calls "Fibro Fog"? Although I have not heard many others talk about ADHD.

I LOVE cooking and am in charge of making supper for a family of four adult and my five year old son four nights a week. I have come to realize it now takes me TWO HOURS to make a 45-minute to an hour meal every night. This is because I cannot pay attention to what I am doing and I end up going online or reading another recipe, or staring out the window, or just forgetting what I am doing...I just don't know. It is very irritating. One night I had to give up and go downstairs to lay down because I pulled a muscle in my back (my whole left trapezius! which is in pain a lot anyway) because I way putting fork wholes in potatoes to bake them, got the fork stuck and pulled my right arm up with my left arm.

Are you currently on any medications for your ADHD, Fibro or otherwise?

Melissa

Hi Melissa,
I have had ADHD my whole and been on and off medications. I had taught myself to control it. My
Dad died 8 years ago and I was the one that found him almost gone. I ended up on Wellbutrin for depression
I learned about 2-3 years ago that Wellbutrion also works for ADHD. Which made since because I wasn't
working as hard to control my ADHD. Once I was diagnosied with fibro still on wellbutrin I noticed it was harder for
me to control and my techniques are not working. I have started gabepentin for fibro and take tylenol
Arthritis for pain. I also take a vitiman d on top of multivitamin and started another depression medication. Yes those are the meds but I refuse to take ritilin
And can't afford concerta, which is a good ADHD med. Since I cant add anything I find ways to stay focused. I hope this helps.

Amy

I think Fibro or any illness can certainly make the challenges of ADHD worse. It can be hard to concentrate and have a good memory when you are in pain. I think this would make it even harder to focus if you already have ADHD. Do you receive any treatment options for your ADHD?
