Menopause does not cause fibromyalgia but the latter can aggravate menopause. This occurs due to a decrease in oestrogen levels. This results in biochemical changes in the body related to menopause like hot flushes, night sweats and irritability and there would compound the situation for someone with fibro already. Bone pain and associated pains in ligaments increase due to decreasing calcium levels which might cause osteoporosis. This phase will clear on its own. The best thing is to maintain the right attitude and contain pain with the normal practices of pain management.

I'm lucky, I had a hysterectomy 17 years ago. i get hot flashes and my face turns beet red. But Ive heard all of that could be attributed to the fibromyalgia. So I may really never know when I go through menopause.
