So despite my doctors and such, here's the short story -
I've had FMS for probably as long as 20 years. In this time I've gone through some serious dental issues, none of which my brothers have (just a background on relatives who don't have FMS at all)
I've had serious decay in my teeth to a point where I was in serious pain a lot, and I eventually got veneers, but now about 12 years later, I need all those replaced again because my teeth underneath are still backfiring on me.
I brush and floss and do all the normal stuff I'm expected to do with my teeth. When I was young I'd go home with an A+ report card from the dentist on how well I was doing. But now, it's like I look like a meth mouth and I'm not doing anything weird.
I heard that the nerve issues with FMS can go into the gums and teeth, and so now I'm wondering a LOT about that. Tell me someone else is having these issues and it's not just me?

Years ago I had a tooth ache so bad it put me into the er. The dentist took exrays and said he saw nothing, I was in obvious pain so He did a root canal. I never understood that medical issue, untell I learned about fibro.

Despite a good report always from the dentist and no signs of classic gum disease as in inflammation my gums are receding quite badly in places and the dentist and specialist can find no reason at all. They have suggested maybe i over brush and have fine bones but i think its just more fibro mystery.

DRy mouth from fibro or medications also makes us prone to gum problem sand decay. Try rinsing your mouth inbetween brushing with a mild bicarbonate of soda solution...half a teaspoon in a full mug to neutralize acid and lessen plaque attacking enamel or a non alcohol gentle mouth wash after meals.

I had the same problem, the root canal didn't help and I guess I tried two more dentist after that. Nothing!!! I was diagnosed wi sorjans months before I was diagnosed with fibro. The medication for sorjans, for whatever reason has helped tremendously, I still get some pain from time to time but nothing like the pain I had for 5 years prior. I do think sorjans is a condition that goes along with FMS.
