We have been unable to find a physician who takes the condition seriously. By that I mean no one cares to do anything but write for medication to the address symptoms.

My wife has tried lyrica, Savella, neurontin, you name it. All have made her feel worse.

She has used tramadol, Tylenol 3, hydrocodone, etc for pain.

Heats, wraps, braces......

Is there a specialist out there who does more than try a pill and let you suffer?

Welcome to the forum. For many of us its pain killers and rest .or the above drugs you have talked about.there is no one thing you can do. It has to be a combo of pain killers gentle movement and a routin that you find for yourself alone the way.
Why don't you put your wife online here. We help with support and understanding ,tips we have all found to help us through the day, but most of all you would be surprised to find most fibro folk want other ppl who understand and not feel alone.
Have you tried calling your local hospital and ask if they have any Dr who do treat fibro.

I just take suplement. The key is to understand fibro. Learn how to slow down. Rest is important because our nerve and muscle overworked. Night restorative sleep is important. We will help her. Dont worry.

I found a local neurological chiropractor that is very understanding and knowledgable. I, personally, have found little relief and many bad side effects from the various prescriptions currently offered. My current journey includes implementing the fodmap diet along with supplements from the health store, including probiotics. There is research out there indicating a connection between gut health and fibro. I am currently reading "Wheat Belly" and find it fascinating.

A rheumatologist or a neurologist should know about fibromyalgia. When I was diagnosed I was given access to a one day class teaching about fibromyalgia and how to cope with it. It was very valuable. They talked about medications, but 3/4 of the day was spent discussing other techniques such as meditation, pacing, ergonomics, breathing, exercise and stretching.

Unfortunately medications tend to be hit or miss, probably because this condition is not well understood yet.

I find that gentle exercise is really important to control my symptoms. I walk, swim and to gentle stretching and yoga. It is also important to rest when I'm tired, even if it is just for 10 minutes or so. Warm baths with Epsom salts help too. Stress reduction is really important too.

I have not used pain meds (yet). I am getting by with antidepressants and flexeril. They don't stop the pain, but they do tone it down.
