Has anyone out there ever dealt with a lawyer that claims if they don't win your case you don't have to pay? I lost my bid for SSD both the first and second time so I hired a lawyer and that is what he claims, if he doesn't win I don't have to pay him. How can that be? I don't for one second think this person is going to work for free. I understand if I win he gets a portion of the back pay and I am ok with that. But to put time and effort into a case, then lose and just walk away. That makes me very skeptical. Any thoughts?

Most lawyers will take such a case but be forewarned.....if they think the case is not a clear win win, they will probably refuse to take it.
Then they want a sizable retainer up front and get paid by the hour.
Good luck (and watch out for the sharks)
I found 100s of quotes like this one. So Id say based on that Id be carful what u agree to.
