Hey guys! Just wondering how everyone's overall health is? I mean, apart from fibro (as if having fibro wasn't hard enough, right?) do you suffer from anything else? A chronic disease?

I do, I suffer from asthma and other health issues I rather not talk about over here. But right now the asthma is killing me! That's mostly because I've the flu right now, I might have caught a lung infection as well (very prone to those too!). Needless to say I don't feel well at all right now :(

If I had to rate my health (in general, not only when I have flu) I'd give it a 2 (from 0 to 5). My overall health isn't good at all for someone my age :( But I try not to be sad about it :) I'm quite realistic tho. Which hurts no one...not even myself ;)

What about you guys? how would you rate your overall health?

I would give myself a 2 also. I have psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia, CFS, and a rare autoimmume disease called PBC. I would be lying if I said it didn't get to me. It does. I am having trouble coping as evidence by a deep depression episode. I am going to a therapist tomorrow for the first time and I hope to learn coping mechanisms.

Asthma is a pain in the but. My son has it, so I know how awful it can be! Hang in there. I don't have fibo that I know of. I am of the "mystery condition" variety. The lump on my spine and herniated disk tell me that whatever it is, is not fun! I would probably rate myself a 2 as well.

Sorry to hear that, Fran! I read your thread a few days ago, I really hope you can get to see the specialist soon, so he finds out what the problem is. My oldest sister also has spine issues and a herniated disk, she is in a lot pain most of the time, so I can imagine what it must be like for you. Not cool at all!

As for my asthma, it's much better now I have dropped 76 pounds :) Before I was unable to take a shower for more than 5 minutes without almost fainting. I was unable to breathe on my own very well. I was afraid to take a shower alone at home, I thought I'd just lose consciousness in the shower and drown to death, seriously, it was that bad! How is your son controlling his?

I'm sorry to hear that, sassy, and let me tell you that you are not alone! It's very common to feel this way; depressed. I mean, who wouldn't, right? I mean, health is so important, but we rarely realize it while we are healthy. I just didn't when I was healthy, and took it for granted, now I can't help to think I could have prevented some of my worse health issues by just eating right.

I'm so glad to hear you are going to see a therapist :) I'm also seeing one too. There is nothing wrong with seeking for help. We must try to stay positive :) I know isn't easy, but we have no choice. Have you heard about Suzanne Powell? She has some really interesting teachings, her breathing techniques are amazing! I recommend you to take a look at it, just type her name in Youtube.
