Hello everyone. I am new to this forum. Am about to my wit's end with this pain! I was "diagnosed" with Fibro back in 2011. Blood work for RA, Lupus, etc all ruled out so this is where I stand.

Two months ago, had more blood work. The only thing really out of norm was my C Reactive Protein being on the high side.

Just got back from the Dr who is ordering a ton more tests including an arterial Doppler on my legs and these blood tests: protein electrophoresis, ferritin, CPK and AFP tumor marker tests. WHEW!

I have been on Lyrica but it is no longer helping. The pain is too much. She gave me a prescription for Savella. I've never heard of it but I hope it works...FAST! My leg pain is becoming unbearable and the only way I can explain it is when you hit your funny bone on something. This resonates through my whole body but mostly in my legs and feet. It drives me to tears. I can't even tell if my pain is in my nerves, my muscles, my ligaments.....All I do know is that this is way more irritating than childbirth because it never stops.

So my reason for going to the Dr today was to finally ask for something for my pain. I was given the Savella. Pharmacist says it will take a few weeks to "kick in". OMG! I need relief NOW!

I have been looking for a doctor that specializes in pain relief in the Loveland, Colorado area and the two that I found online in searching specifically for a fibro Dr now say they don't treat that anymore.

Need advice on Savella if anyone has it. Thanks!

For Savella information, I suggest you look at one of the online PDR's (Physician Desk Reference). You can usually find out about any medication's side effects by looking through one of them.

I use shows Savella is a Serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Basically, an antidepressant.

Before finding my pain specialist, several primary physicians tried prescribing antidepressants, which did not work for the type of pain I deal with. Each medication took a full 6 to 8 weeks to reach its therapeutic level, but did nothing for my pain.

I take Neurontin, 300 mg 3 times a day. I believe it's a nerve pain blocker. Been on it 4 years and it's the only thing that works for me. I've never even tried the others because it works so well. It's immediate acting, if that helps....

Nikki B, I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. I realy hope you can find some relief soon. I think you should look for more info on this medication online. A while ago a new user came here asking for any possible side effects this medication could have on people. Well, I found one of the longest side effects list ever! Seriously, some ranged from mild to severe. That list was so long I couldn't post it whole, because I was afraid it'd take too much space. So I really advice you to check that out.

Thanks everyone! I am on day 7 of the Savella with no noticeable improvement at all. I took a few of my friends Oxycodone/hydrocodone and that took the pain away. I have also been putting on some embolism stockings, which does offer some relief also. I'm just going to have to suck it up at my next appt on the 28th and tell my Dr I need real pain relief. I still haven't gotten the Celebrex because it's in insurance preauthorization limbo.
