Hello everyone, my name is Tony and of course I'm new to this site. I made it to work Today but Monday and Tuesday were really bad. Not sure if I have the flu on top of the FM but Monday was so painfull just to get out of bed and get to the bathroom 10 feet away. I've never experienced that much pain. I had a sweat top on and just pulling it up to middle of my forearm was crazy painful. I had no fever or chills, just severe pain all over and a headache with just a little congestion. I'm just wondering if anyone has these symptoms with FM alone.

I've had the flu like symptoms of FM for many years. The pain was mild, along with feeling feverish and tired. The pain had worsened over the years and i began to walk like Fred Sanford (Redd Foxx) so i decided to seek the advice of a Dr.of internal medicine. No official diagnosis but he is treating me as if i have FM. He prescribed Cymbalta and Meloxicam which help very little

I call myself The Faker because I don't think that anyone believes me. Even my wife, which i dont understand because she hardly ever sleeps in the same bed as i do. The tossing, turning and moaning in pain must be fake too?

Hi Tony, welcome to the forum. I am sorry things are going so badly for you, and I hope that some of the posts on this forum will give you some new coping skills for managing your pain. Personally I like warmth and so I often put a blanket in the dryer for a few minutes and then bask under the warmth of the warm blanket while laying on my sofa. Also many of us use Epson Salts in our bath water. of course you need a bath tub and warm water for that one. Also if you find your bed feels to hard and uncomfortable, then search online for a pad called a cotton fiber bed pad. The best ones are 3-4 inches thick which you put on top of your mattress under your sheets. These pads are also available as feather filled, memory foam, or regular foam pads which the latter is sold in many pharmacies. It is amazing what a little bit of extra cushioning can do to ease the pain in your back and hips, and legs, etc...

Be sure to read through the posts, old and new, in the chronic pain and alternative methods section in order to hopefully pick up some more tips to help you feel better. We have a section for venting and most of us love to chat with others so you will not feel alone. We try to be supportive and answer all questions with honest answers. Other members will share about medications and how they deal with the pain.

I am glad you found this forum and I hope you will come back often and enjoy your time here. Look forward to reading your posts. :)

That's the reason I'm here. For advice, there's none better than advice coming from people that have been there. The doctors don't say much. Take this twice a day and that every 24 hours, by the sir, will that be cash or charge. I'm definitely not going back to the same doctor!

Oh well you are in the same boat as me sir. For most of my life I have been like this. Most of my family and my doctors just thought I was a complainer. Its still considered a phantom illness. It is a problem. It sounds like you need to get ahold of a specialist. For the longest time my main physician thought I was crazy. He still tries to get me on antidepressents. I am not crazy and this is a daily problem. It for sure has messed up my life. I am on lyrica. I take Tramadol for my joints and melatonin for sleep. I had to change how I eat and drink also. No dairy, no sugars except for natural like fruits, no salt, no caffeine, or processed foods

Hi and welcome.i suffer from flu like feeling and sore sore sore skin. The touch my arms with a feather and il cry.so yes fibro does do that.
I was lucky my dr told me I had fibro and studies it. But that still doesn't make living with it any .what are u taking atm

They have me on Cymbalta which I like, Meloxicam what's the use because it does nothing (it might make a good anti-diarrhea med) and Trazadone for sleep which I take about 50% of the time. I'd rather have fibro fog than trazafog. I know I shouldn't say this but my wife gives me a low dose benzo on the weekends and they give me so much energy that it's unbelievable. I would appreciate some advice on meds. After this last episode, I could barely get out of bed and walking was hard enough to make a pretty tough (or so i thought) 50 year old man wanna cry. It'll almost make you want to cash in your chips.

Hi girlytoshoes87! So, does the Lyrica seem to work for you? I just looked it up, it sounds like it would be better for pain than Cymbalta. I don't think that I need an antidepressant.

The Lyrica is allot better. The anti depressents do not get rid of your pain. I don't understand the point of doctors perscribing that. With the Lyrica It is something you have to take everyday and at the same time. If you miss it or stop takeing it then you will wish you hadn't.. It helps me sleep but I am more foggier during the days. So best to take a higher dose at night and a small dose during the days while takeing other pain killers. One bad thing for me is I miss some then I get facial ticks and I get more anxious. Don't let them put you on a real high dose. When I took the high dose I started to get the shakes and I couldnt handle being still. It makes it manageable. I talked to my doctor and he said thats all it will ever do. Some other reviews on it people said it was horrible. It depends on the person and also the dose.

Antidepressants are for the fact u get so down with this illness, and some like my amitripoline are for nerve pain.faker this illness don't care what age you are what sex you are or what age. I don't no what drug your wife is giving u so I can't comment ,I'm not that up on drugs an u enlighten me alittle?

There's a flu bug going around, fits your symptom to a tee. My extended family had it. I'm not sure, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but any time there's a bug, or injury to someone with fibro, it's exacturated.
Hope your feeling better.
