ARGH!

FYI - As of October 6, 2014...

What a major pain in the @$$. No more just refilling my vicodin script over the phone.

Doctor can NOT even call the pharmacy for you. You have to have an appointment and receive a written script - and EACH filling of the drug has to have it's very own prescription. Absolutely NO refills allowed. Pharmacy can't contact doc - doc can't contact pharmacy - no call ins no nothing.

Currently marketed hydrocodone combination products approved as cough suppressants include HycodanR, MycodoneR, TussionexR, PennkineticR, TussigonR, and several generics.

Snip: Despite its current state classification as Schedule III drugs, the DEA’s action preempts state law. These products will be treated as Schedule II controlled drugs in all states.

The written prescription must include instructions, including the earliest date on which a pharmacy may fill each prescription. (Note: So if you get it a couple days early, it still won't be able to be filled until the exact day of renewal)

Faxed prescriptions are no longer allowed. The patient has to physically hand the HCP prescription to the pharmacist.
