Hi everyone,

I am hoping to find some advice with other experience Fibro sufferers. I am 49 years old and was diagnosed with Fibro ten years ago after being misdiagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I have major depression, severe fatigue, insomnia and frequent migraines. Plus I am two years post breast cancer with chemo and radiation. I am taking Cymbalta and Lyrica. I am finding that both meds are not working as well but I am at the max dose for Cymbalta. To complicate things in live in rural Cape Breton Nova Scotia where specialists and resources are limited. I am basically at the mercy of my pcp who although very nice has limited knowledge and acceptance of fibromyalgia. I’m wondering if anyone has had success with any other medications or even alternatives.

I live on the Big Island which is also very limited in healthcare so I feel your frustrations intimately. I am on Cymbalta 60mg per day, Gabapentin 600mg at night, and Tramadol as needed. All these meds help me tremendously and can't function without them. I also take magnesium citrate 400 mg per day and tumeric. For sleep I also take melatonin 10mg extended release nightly as sleep is so important for chronic pain.

Learning to use my body better has allowed me to release all the pain and tension I had been carrying around for 40 years. Slowly regaining my natural range of movement and working towards balancing my body.

It was all about the muscles I was using - the wrong ones! My body was not balanced, it was tense and twisted and constantly sore. Old injuries stayed with me, I adjusted my posture to avoid painful areas rather than healing.

My theory (based on my recovery):

All movement should stem from your Base-Line muscles:

pelvic floor "base" at the root of all movement.

rectus abdominis "line"
our core pillar of strength that should be active and elongated supporting the rest of the body. Section by section extending from pelvic floor base.

Think stronger and longer Base-Line every time you breathe in.

The gluteus maximus and rectus femoris muscles should work in tandem supporting the legs through a full range of movement when connected to Base-Line support.

The trapezius muscles for the upper body, a blanket of muscle from midback to the back of the head, extending out towards each shoulder. The trapezius muscles should be free to move in all directions, supporting the head and arms through a full range of movement.

Find these 5 main muscles of movement on your body. Think about their condition and focus activation and balance between left and right sides.

I used the roll-down action as my fundamental move during my recovery. Activating my Base-Line at the core of the movement, and then moving the rest of my body as felt right to release some of the physical tensions on my body. Little by little I worked through the physical pains to align my body.

It was not a quick fix for me, but the day my depression lifted I knew I was onto something, and I feel better than I ever have done before.

Look at a bit of anatomy, think about how you use your muscles and connect with your Base-Line for better health.

Don't take too much medicine, as they might give you side-effect of overdose. Instead, you can try out doing some muscle relieving exercises guided by the trainers. My elder brother was also suffering from a similar type of muscle pain, he was in a wheelchair for 9 months. Due to this, he had to leave his job as he was not able to stand stood without any assistance. His wife is a working woman, and can't give her time as monthly income is also an important part to survive.

So one of his neighbours suggested his wife take some help from the Eldercare lawyers ( www.scottcounsel.com ), who aims at taking care of elderly people at home.
