I don't know if other people have problems with it.. I already have problems moving. But once I take this especially during the days then their is basically no point getting out of bed. I actually can't take it all if I plan on going out. Because It turns me into a zombie. I can't stand it.. It also makes me uneasy to be around.. Makes me so cranky. As of right now my Doctor says their are not many choices of nerve meds for Fibro. I am happy it helps me sleep at night But thats about it.

Hi there. You're not alone, I can't take Lyrica either. It makes me depressed. I was only on it for a week and had to go off it. It didn't really help with the pain anyway. I have had fibro for about 20 years (though only diagnosed about 12yrs ago) and in my experience if it is not working for you don't take it. Having fibromyalgia does not mean living like a zombie.

I have amitripoline 50mg at night, it's for nerve pain but I take it to make me sleep.i then have paracetamol and codine or tramadol for the pain.

I have been on Lyrica before and found it seemed to work for a while, but then didn't. I'm currently on Cymbalta. I'm not convinced it's helping me but my doc says that it's the best out there. I've heard mixed statements about it. Some say it works great, others not so much. I guess that's why there is so much medication out there. Amitriptoline gave me such dry mouth my dentist was having a fit. My goal after life gets settled a bit is to try and get off the daily meds. I do take Piroxicam, which is an anti-inflammatory and have tried to go off that before. Let me just say, that one I can't go off of. I still use my hydrocodone (vicodin) when I can't take the pain or when it flares.

I just started Lyrica a week ago this week I had to up the doesage that I am taking for pain. I don't find it is working at all I am stil in pain and have to take another pain pill just to get through a day of work. I also find it makes me very tired and dry mouth. So there are pthers that have issues with this medication but others say it works. Not sure how long to give it to see if it works my doctor has me up my doseage every week by one pill by the fouth week I will be on eight pills a day. Wish there was another solution hard to get through most days.

kdurning, im sorry to hear you are have to go through this pain. my doctor told me it takes about one month for the meds to show full effects.
please read the side effects list that came with the drug. there is another much cheaper med called Gabapintin thay may help you.

give it time. in the mean time please see my post starting a daily log book. this will help you to get the drugs(Gabapintin) and treatment plan you need.

I'm sorry the lyrica is not working for you. I took it once and I stopped it for some reason. I can't remember the reason it has been so long. My fibromyalgia just came back. My doctor is putting me on Cymbalta. I hope it works. 8)

Cmetryme thank you for the positivity that I may have some good low pain days ahead. I have been dealing with this so long and they keep telling me it was my back and weight. But after many test and finally going to a specialist they found out what is wrong but I hate feelling this way. Tired all the time and in pain. Since I started taking Lycia I find my legs hurt and sometimes burn. Today is not a good day in alot of pain but I manage to get myself to work and told myself I would let this run my life but just having a really bad day today. I appreciate this site it helps to be able to talk to someone that goes through the same thing. I also have DDD which is Degentive disc disease where my discs in my back are also deterating slowly can;t win it feels like. I have to try and continue I have a wonderful son I need to be around to see grow up and hopefully not get this. I am going to start a book to track my pain and give these pills a chance I just up them to two pills two times a day next week three. We will see what happens in the next month just frustrated :)

KD, i'm glad i could help you. document everything you can. stay strong for your son. keep moving as much as possible.
You can do this. your son needs you to do this. keep reading and posting here it will help you. be very careful with the Lyrica
i lost my eyesight from that med.(left eye only, right now). doctor tried to stop it before it got worse. Live and learn.

Cmetryme thank you for the heads up on this medication sorry to hear about your eye sight. That would not be good for me where I already have bad eye sight. I keep looking for side effects and my doctor see's me every two month and runs test so here is to nothing going wrong. The only thing is the burning in the legss not sure what that is will have to go and see about that. My son definitly keeps me going and moving. I also suffer from mirgians I think they are connected. Any other side effects with Lyrica you had that I should watch out for. How do you stay so positive through all this. I am happy to have someone to talk to have no one here, My doctor was suppose to give me support group information but never did.

KD, Doctor stopped it after a few months. i'm allergic to many many meds. the fact i could take it and not pass out excited me that i can finally get some med help for this. sorry i cant help you with more side effects to watch out for. you do have other meds to go to. just give this one time. check with your eye doctor as well as your GP.

How do you stay so positive through all this:

My life is very hard on me and my wife. my son just moved back in so he can help. knowing that there is nothing more he can do but support me. i try to stay active and ive learned sometimes you just have to cry. then the pain gets to livable and just pick myself up and go. i cant stop the pain and the meds i take can kill me anytime. if i let this get me down then the pain gets worse. so i learned to stay positive. i get to see my wife and son each day. i get to say i love you to them another day, good or bad doesn't matter anymore. knowing i can help someone here keeps me going. ive paid a lot of money last year trying to find answers to all this pain. many folks dont have the money to try that. so i pass on what i have learned. these folks here keep me positive too. i know im not alone and they teach me things too. just as you will learn here and pass on what you learn for others. i just keep on keeping on. one day i wont be able to use this computer or get up to kiss my wife good bye. so best to be positive and thank god for each day he gives me with my wife and son, good or bad.

You have Fibro and it's not a life threatening thing, just a painful thing. dont let it get you down, that will only raise your stress level. keep positive for your son and try to do things that will keep you in low pain.

Im here for you and your welcome to chat one on one with me anytime.

Keep reading and learning. it will help you and your son.

I had a bad weekend on the Lyrcia my face all swelled up and pain was unbelieveable but manage to get through it. I called my specialist this morning he is seeng me tomorrow and might have to start something else for the pain as this is not working. I do pray each and every day and I do enjoy the good days that I have but once I start over doing it then that is it. I use to do a exercise class once a week for an hour and that kills me to do that I am in so much pain. Today is not a good day but still came to work and I feel so tired. I am tried of being tired if you all know what I mean. Just need a good night sleep. Hopefully someday it will get better or manageable. Just having a frustrating day that is all . I appreciate all of you listening and understanding what we all go through each and eveyday.

KD. im so sorry your weekend was plagued with pain. hang in there. you can do this. one minute at a time. i hear you.

Well went to the doctor today and told him Lyrica is not working I am in more pain with it then I was without it. So today I start Gabapentin he said this should work. I just have been looking into this drug and people are staying good things about it so we will see. Another bad day today but keep positive that soon I will have a good day with little pain. Just frustrating trying all these new pills oh well what can i do have to do something. Sorry that is my rant for today.

Kdurning, I'm so sorry you are struggling with bad days. I completely understand, as we all do on this site. I haven't tried Gabapentin. I've tried Lyrica and I'm currently on Cymbalta (which I just sent my physician a message that I want to get off of). I have been having some really bad days/weeks. I am usually pretty positive, but I have to say, it's getting to me. I just want some normal days. What is normal? A day where I can focus and complete a few tasks. I've been off work since July of last year and I can't seem to function with the most basic household chores. I look around and it's just piling up! Today I told myself I was going to just clean the kitchen. Well, I got the dishes in the dish washer. Nothing more because I started getting woozy.

I'll be interested in your thoughts on how the Gabapentin works and what dosage you are on.
