Okay i have had Fibro for approximately two years now. I have suffered from RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) for Ten years. The last month or two i have been having a really hard time. I called in 4 times in three weeks due to sickness. After being told Thursday that i might be just fighting a virus and due to my extremely suppressed immune system i was having a really hard time getting rid of it, i went back to work again Friday. Saturday half way through the day i was feeling sick again!!! I made a choice to take this week off work to rest, but i am starting to worry that even after i am done resting this week i will still feel like shit because its not a virus but just the fibro starting to get worse. I have been able to function and get by alright until now.

So i posted in a group i am apart of on face book that is for Fibro suffers in my area. I had TWO women respond (one who also has RA like me) and both told me they had to quit working. One was MY AGE when she stopped working (note i know this girl and she is the one who has RA like me) and one was 42. I had written to ask what meds people were on since the only thing i take for the fibro so far is Amytriptline for sleep. ( I take alot of other meds for the RA and my doc was hesitant to add more if its not needed) I also wanted some suggestions of things i can do to help manage better. I was completely sidelined when i had two people bascially tell me my life was over.

I am only 33 years old. I plan on having a child in the next two years, get married, and live a long and happy life. I work in Childcare, and have for the last 9 years. I REFUSE to take this as a life sentence and do not want to give up.

SOOO, i will ask again.... is this it? PLEASE tell me there is life with fibro, that i wont have to quit working and retire at 33 years old, give up my dream of having a child, and broadening my horizons and exploring new job experiences in working with children.

I need to know that me trying to find a way to function, work, and live and love with my family, husband, and step daughter is not a lost cause.

Thank you,

Sincerely, someone who feels lost and confused

Has your Rhumatologist given you a vitamin and magnesium regiment? As well as a new eating plan? It's critical in order for you to fight this with a punch. Xo

New eating plan?!? No? I'm gluten free, I take daily vitamins, a calcium and vit D supplement along with a it and mineral drink power. I use L glutamine a half hour before taking any meds to help protect my intestinal track as well as help repair damage and keep regular. Other then that I try to eat healthy but still have my sweets and treats. I try to only drink one cup if coffee a day, I rarely drink juice and mainly drink water, infused fruit waters (I have an infuser). That's it.

Magnesium is very important as it greatly helps with muscle pain. Also, B complex. Epson salt baths are helpful. I started gluten, corn, sugar, dairy, processed food free and my fog is so much better. The muscle pains come right back if I don't take the magnesium, b 12, b complex l, D...or if I get stressed. All the best to you. It's work, but if you really stick to a food elimination plan and find what foods are affecting you, you might be able to heal a lot without pain killers.

I'm affaird no one can tell you how your life will pan out.
You might have to make changes ,your life will be what you make it.we all want our dreams to come true.and maybe all of yours will to. But you might have to work at them diffrent to what you had planned .i had my 3 older kids when I was in my 20s but I'm 43 and have a four year old.i can't work ,but then I have my little one.you have to kind of make a trade with your own self.what u want and what u can have.
All you can do is take one day at a time.x

I read this book about a month ago. The New Fibromyalgia Remedy by Daniel C. Dantini M.D. He prescribes antivirals and getting tested for food allergies. I have had fibromyalgia for almost 20 years and have tried many things. Nothing has ever worked before. I eliminated milk, coffee and cheese from my diet and I take 500 mg of Valacyclovir at night before bed. I saw a fibromyalgia specialist in NYC who prescribed the antivirals for me. I FEEL LIKE I'M GETTING MY LIFE BACK. I have energy again. It took about 3 weeks for the antivirals to start working. I can actually go grocery shopping and biking in the same day. I don't have that never ending fatigue. I have never posted on a forum before but I wanted to get this information out there. I believe fibromyalgia is virus related. I am feeling better. Not 100% but over 60 %. I have been taking antivirals for almost 5 weeks. I have posted this post in a couple different threads. I hope it helps somebody.

Hi, I am one of the rare guys who suffers from Fibro.

Well Paul ,your not so rare, you would be surprised how many men pass through our doors .

For skarebear; I would reconsider having a baby; not just because the pain can be debilitating but the medications for fibro and/or ra are not safe for a fetus. I wanted another child but wouldn't risk the birth defects. That would be so much harder to take care of with the pain than a healthy baby. Just consider that.
