I went to my doc yesterday requesting some time off. I feel like I am extremely overwhelmed with work and life in general. I work full time and have 7 year old triplets and a 10 year old. I switched docs earlier this year since I felt my previous doc had tried everything she could do. So my new docs reply to this was "I would like some time off, I just don't see a reason you should be off". I work non call all weekend. Days have been up to 20 hrs long and by Monday morning I feel like I have been hit by a truck. It takes me all week to recover from the damage working and not resting enough does to my body. I am in a lot of pain, my memory sucks, I am very emotional and grumpy most the time. He said maybe I should see a specialist. I live in a smaller city and there are no specialists that I know of. I have had a sleep study, seen 2 rheumatologist, and go to a chiropractor and nothing has helped. To make this all worse, my husband believes the fibro is all in my head as we'll and I should just go to work and suck it up. Help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Wow you poor thing...you need to go out back and just scream! Go onto sites and show your hubby what fibro is! Tell your doc that you have to have time off before you have a break down..I don't know how you are doing it all...stress is the worst thing for fibro and you are in a big stress ball..if it takes all week to recover take all week you need down time I know I couldn't handle young kids and you with 4 of them.. Maybe seek out counciling I think the first step is try to get your hubby to get it..I don't know if he ever will but its a good start.
Sorry I'm not more help....

Thanks for the reply. I took the weekend off and feel some relief. It is Monday and I have 1 home sick today. My husband said it was nice having me home on the weekend, but not worth the loss of my income. He thinks he knows everything about fibromyalgia, just lacks empathy about it, when we talk about it. Hope I have a job to return to, not sure what the doc wrote on the fmla forms. I should have picked them up and took them in instead of having him fax them

Wow. How are you holding it together? I would not be able to do it. I agree with trfielder, it is important for your sanity and your relationship that your husband be more supportive and empathetic of your illness. Then your doctor. If possible, find a doctor that understands fibro and cares. It is scary approaching your employer with your illness. Hopefully they will be more understanding. I hate that no one thinks fibro is a completely disabling illness. If you had reported to any of them, husband, doctor, work, that you had leukemia or cancer they would bend over backwards for you. You don't have to be facing chemo or death for an illness to seriously impact your health and your life. Sorry, just makes me angry. My husband has seen my breaking point, he is much more understanding now, not that it should ever have to come to that for anyone. Maybe be willing to show him your vulnerability. One thing about fibro sufferers is that we tend to try doing everything we did before and hide the pain.

I am feeling a little better since starting on savella last week and off work for 2 weeks. My doc gave me the Fula I requested, strange that my job is in the classified. They are trying to replace me while I am off on flam! How caring my employer is, lol
