Hi everyone! My name is Ashley and I will be 30 next month (eeekk!)

2 years ago I dropped something on my big toe, the nail ripped off, got infect so I went to a podiatrist. The podiatrist gave me a prescription for 1000 MGs a day of cipro for 28 days.

A few months after being off the medication I started feeling bad, body aches, constantly feeling run down, sick, forgetful, i will forget words in the middle of a sentence, etc.

Over the last two years, it has gotten worse. I've never had a pain free day, I am sick at least once a month. I had H1N1 two weeks ago and now I am coming down with similar symptoms, again. I get irritable, no matter how much I sleep I wake up exhausted and with a stiff body, I get depressed...in the last 5 months a couple of times a week I will get bloated and have extreme cramps and diarrhea (sorry TMI)...I will even experience sharp pains in my face, my hands and feet will swell...

Where do I go? Do I go to a general practitioner? Is there a type of specialist I can look for? I just want my life back!

Paperfishies,
If I were you I would get checked out by a neurologist. Often times we get hurt and consider it nothing serious and often it isn't, but it could be. My relative had something likewise happen to her. She cut her big toe and nursed it at home with herbal treatments. Finally she went to a doctor and he told her she had gang-green in the toe and had to have it removed because of the bad infection. Not beliving this doc she shopped around till she found one that would give her a antiboditic. The cut healed and she thought it was over. However, even thou the cut healed on the outside the bad infection had spread to her spinal fluid and now she is in a wheelchair.

Not to say that is totally like you, but usually bad infections need to be treated with hospital type antiboditics to avoid the spread of the infection. So to be safe go see a neurologist first and if everything checked out good, then see a rheumatologist. I truely hope all is well with you and that whatever is wrong can be helped or cured.

However, you are welcome to read the many posts and comment on topics that interest you. Good Luck! :)
