Not a family doctor but a specialist dedicating this new clinic in Bolton to Fibro and the similar afflictions.
I had my initial appointment with her today and I can't express how wonderful it was not to be met with that look of indifference or distain that you can get with others in the medical profession. SHE TOTALLY GETS IT!
She also suffers from similar conditions and she didn't look at me blankly when I mentioned the AV shunt theory that has been published around the internuts.
She is sending me for a battery of blood tests. She is of the opinion my symptoms are made worse because she think I'm in menopause or very damn close. She was surprised that nobody has ever sent me for a sleep study so she is setting that up.
Because I was so relaxed with her she got a true reading of my blood pressure which is as I thought and is dipping ever so slightly on the low side.
She went all over the usual Fibro tests. Every single tender point fired... EVERY one. I also have that myofascial pain syndrome thingy which has never been mentioned before and all my muscles are tight as gins and refuse to relax.
They have a specialist massage person on site that knows how to work on sensitive folks like us . They even have an exercise specialist there too that can tell you what you are doing wrong and give you targeted exercise advice.
So far even at this early stage I feel like I've struck gold!

For the first time in years I actually felt emotionally better coming out of a doctors office instead of the usual demoralized state I'm normally in.

If the moderators allow it I would very much like to share their facebook page.
(can I do that Mods? )

Where is this dr? I'm not one to be jealous of others. Gotta tell you, jealous as hell. I really hope they help you. I'm still looking.

Just realized you're in canada. Damn.

Yeh sorry Rose. This place is in Bolton, Caledon, Canada. It's called the Fibro pain clinic and are on facebook.

Congratulations!

Can you believe even in Boston I cannot find a specialty clinic?

So happy for you! That doctor sounds awesome! So does that clinic! Too bad it's too far, otherwise I'd really consider going. Right now I'm struggling trying to save to see a doctor who specializes on serious hormonal issues like mine (in NY), because is a real rarity to find a good doctor who actually loves doing his/her work! Glad you found a good one nearby!

Congrats! You are very lucky :) I hope you get more answers with this doctor, it really sounds to me like this woman knows what she is doing. Been coming and going seeing different doctors, and I've so far met only a few who knew what they were doing. You are very very lucky!

I'm finding out that not all doctors understand this condition. Doctors in general may understand that the use of antidepressants are drugs to help this condition; however, they don't understand the whole concept of their patient's pain and sufferings. They can help their patients by helping them find good counselors, and then, keeping monthly checkups on them.
