I was referred to a rheumatologist and got an authorization to see him the other day, so I made an appointment.

Upon getting there, I find that a staff member is in the waiting room selling vitamins and vitamin shots in the front office and also leading prayers and reading from the bible. This didn't make me comfortable in the least.

The woman at the front desk tells me the doctor isn't in "today" but that I will be seeing a Physician's Assistant for my appointment. I wait an hour in the waiting room and then another hour in the exam room before I see the PA.

THIS young woman spends the few moments I have with her talking AT me and basically wanting to "eliminate" all other possibilities with a raft of tests before deciding that I have the FMS with which I was diagnosed nearly 10 years ago. She touched me on my arm ONCE, asked if it hurt (it did) and that was the sum total of her "exam".

I left the office after another half hour of waiting for her to finish up my chart and order up a bunch of tests (and authorization requests) before I was able to leave.

I decided I wasn't going to go back there, called my PCP's office, told them what went on, and was informed that they would no longer be sending patients there and that they would find me another specialist.

For grins and giggles, I went looking for more information on this mysterious doctor today and discovered that he's considered to be retired from active practice by the American College of Rheumatology.

I think something is rotten in Denmark.

Woah... it sounds like one of those places where they just bai you so later on they can trick you and try to sell something to you. It happened to me my mom once, you did good. It actually sounds quite suspicious, that doc and his people are truly up to something!

I decided to report them to the California Medical Board. I'll also be mentioning it to the folks who handle my medical insurance. This guy needs to lose his government handouts. I'm convinced they're padding their bills. I found a website of his where it appears he really doesn't like the ACA, either. I don't know if I am able to provide a link on the board without getting my fat little fanny in trouble, otherwise, I would.

Darn... good job! They really deserve to get deported and I'm hoping something is done... the way that place is run should say it all. I really wonder how come they sent you there? I'm glad you reported it, maybe no one did it before and that's why they're sending people like you there, but hopefully their party will be over after this! Hate it when so called health care professionals do that kind of things... as if finding a good doctor wasn't hard enough!

My PCP's folks didn't know that it was like that there. She (the gal who does authorization requests) has told me they will no longer be sending patients to this guy, since what I told her bothered her so very much.

I'd like to know how someone who is listed as retired by the ARC can run three clinics. I just can't get my pointy little brain around it all.

Oh, I get it! Hire a pile of Physicians Assistants of dubious medical ability, let THEM do all the work, and then rake in the government payments while paying bonuses for massive testing income.

My guess is corruption. Because really, what he is doing isn't ethical... not sure it's very legal either, but I could be wrong. I'm sure it's quite dangerous tho. I hate it when so called health care pros do this kind of things, disappoints me deeply. I mean, I know a lot docs are in for the money, but cooome ooon!?
