Hi everyone,

I have been looking for awhile for a support group for Fibro. I have no doctor support really at the moment. My GP is getting tired of hearing about my issues and specialists so far are not all that helpful.

I was diagnosed about 3 years ago following a car accident by a rheumatologist in Barrie and have since had to move to London. I was looking forward to getting better medical care here in London as they have more specialist and resources....NOT!

I am told in London to see Dr Harth(supportive of Fibro) it will be a year?
I tried one other rheumatologist and she didn't believe in Fibro and sent me back to my GP. There seems to be a real issue here with health care providers. In the Fibro workshop last night was given stats: somewhere up around 71% of rheumatologists don't believe in Fibro and 50% of GP's don't either, I was shocked.
The top things listed to help Fibro were: Exercise (swimming, Tai Chi etc) and Therapy (CBT). So all these med's the doctors are throwing at people are not particularly helpful as the exercise and therapy.

Anyone here have a good GP that may be accepting new patients?

Cheers:eek:

Personally, I've never seen a doc specifically for FM.....I've addressed so many issues that cause the FM syndrome...it's not a disease...it's a syndrome of many things gone wrong.

There is a lot of good info here and I just posted some on the first site here on Taurine. Look at it. The FM syndrome hit my body with an Emotional Trauma in 1999. Thyroid is critical.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I am still reading all the info on the site. What is Taurine, do you mean the supplement?

Yes, I have doctors harping constantly about my thyroid...TSH is low but my T3/T4's are perfectly normal...subclinical...so I tried med's and they made me feel terrible...had to go off them. 2 other doctors I saw said I didn't need it yet as my hormone levels are fine but some doc's have caused real problems for me as I am refusing med's...had one doc fire me. I just hate the old paternalistic attitudes, its my body, if I am not getting symptoms and my hormone levels are fine I am not taking pills to make someone else happy.
