    Gene mutations?

When I first became ill, I was sent to Georgetown University for a consult with the Chief of Rheumatology. He tested me for several things, among them, gene mutations. He explained to me that I had the MTHFR gene mutation. Only one of the genes was mutated, but he went on to tell me that people...

Does your monthly cycle cause flares?

I've noticed that my monthly cycle causes me to flare. Everything seems worse. Of course, I'm in pain because of being on my period itself, but I also have more joint pain and I am ever more tired when it's that time of the month. Has anyone else noticed this too? To add, it also seems to...

Doctors want me to just suck it up!

I just developed high blood pressure in the last few months and am now going to a cardiologist. I recently started smoking again because I'm on nothing for pain and it helps very mildly with symptoms. I live in Virginia, so I can't smoke pot for pain. As it is, I'm already in pain, I'm just...

    Hello

Fairly new diagnosis of F/M and CPS. I also have Polymyalgia Arthritica which makes my life that much more difficult. It seems like each new day brings about some new challenge that can easily be diagnosed as a new autoimmune disease. Having problems with a parotid gland blockage - it comes and...

    Mono and fibro again

Hello to all. I read the Barnabev7’s thread (31/5) and felt astonished. I think the connection between mono and fibromyalgia might apply to me too. I am 48 years old and exactly two years ago I was diagnosed with mono. And I haven’t been myself ever since. As the pain in my -swollen- lymph nodes...

    Newbie from O-hi!-o

Hello everyone! I'm Nichole I haven't been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I believe I may have it as I have been diagnosed with a rare autoimmune muscle disease called dermatomyositis and FM is something that likes to tag along, same with lupus and other autoimmune diseases. I do have chronic...

Neuro thinks ALS, I want to believe it is Myasthenia Gravis

Could really use your insight and direction... Knowing the ravages of ALS, I would much rather be diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis any day (even though that DX is terrible but it is at least somewhat manageable compared to ALS). I had to go into the ER today with difficulty breathing and...

Re: juat a simple question about what to do next.

Re: juat a simple question about what to do next. I would suggest you make an appointment with a rheumatologist. They specialize in inflammatory disorders including autoimmune, fibromyalgia, and so on. It sounds like much of what you are experiencing would fall within the scope of that specialty.
