Hello,
I had surgery for a herniated disc 5 months ago but I still have constant muscle pain in my neck, traps and in between my shoulder blades. My dr said it may be fibro but I have SUPER tight muscles where the pain in. Constant tight muscle. I haven't heard of that being a fibro symptom. Plus the pain has been going on for 2 1/2 years everyday. Doesn't fibro give you at least a few days break of pain?

Hi Nenachula,

I have only been diagnosed with FM since May of this year. I have had tight muscles in my neck and shoulders the entire time , so bad that my shoulders feel dislocated most of the time. Even with some better days I have not experienced these muscles to relax for me. Sorry probably not the answer you were looking for :( Wishing you relief ...

Nenachula, it really is hard t tell, because fibro offers a totally different experience for each person.... some people get a break for a couple of days while others seem to be constantly in pain. So it's really hard to tell.

I was always told that the tight muscles is part of the fibro and yes they cause their own type of pain. I try to get regular massages to help with that pain. As far as breaks, ya well, ummmmmm it depends on the position of the stars, if the earth span correctly, if there is change of weather-season, um you name it and some days you have low pain, some days high pain. I have long passed the 0 pain days. I always use a rating of 0-10 to discribe my pain to others. My "good" days is about 2-3. In the fall going into winter I can feel the days getting worse. The cold here in Canada where I live kills me and to boot I also have vit D deficiency and arthritis. Do note that any pre-exisiting pain from things like herniated disc or severe arthritis gets amplified! That is the part that really kills me. It amps my arthritis pain so much there are days I cannot walk. The pain in my joints to try an bear my weight is just off the charts. Then add in all the muscle pain, pain points, I can be sitting and suddenly start getting stabbing pains in a muscle that is severe pain, I mean the list goes on and on. So yes, you can have pain everyday to one degree or other. Especially the longer you have it.

I'd check an osteopath for his/her opinion, saying that you have fibro always require a second opinion I believe.

I tend to agree, you need advice from the person who specialises in that department. Are you on any medications at all?
